Welcome to Columbia Notes, which has been promoting paper money collecting from Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia since 1991.
The accompanying price list, updated regularly, contains a wide selection of moderately priced bank notes, accurately graded according to the standards of the International Bank Note Society. Bank notes are listed using catalogue numbers of the most recent editions of the Standard Catalogue of World Paper Money, published by Krause Publications. I make a special effort to identify many bank notes by signature varieties, dates or series numbers to assist more specialized collectors. A free price list in hardcopy, for either Latin American paper money or Asian currency, is available on request.
Latin American currency and Asian currency together offer some of the most fascinating and colorful series of bank notes available for paper money collecting. Asian paper money runs from the world's oldest notes, the first Chinese paper currency, through to today's beautifully designed bank notes of Sri Lanka. Latin American paper money ranges from the myriad early private issues of Argentina to the varied series of Brazil paper money as that country passed though successive waves of inflation.
Banknote collecting is a fun hobby for old and young. As with all similar activities, the more you know about your topic, the more satisfying you will find your currency collecting. I encourage anyone interested in world paper money collecting to join the International Bank Note Society, the one organization that brings together enthusiasts worldwide, providing well-researched articles, news of events in the world of bank notes and, most importantly, a link to a diverse group of people with similar interests to your own. Similarly, the Latin American Paper Money Society or LANSA offers the same benefits to collectors specializing in Central and South American paper money.
